In Memory of Elmer Kelton
August 24, 2009
Lone Star Rising is my current favorite Elmer Kelton book, though it’s hard to pick one favorite from among 40+ outstanding reads. My favorite tends to change to the book I’m reading or that I read last.
The news of Kelton’s death on Saturday saddened me. As a historical fiction writer, he has always been an inspiration and a role model to me.
Elmer Kelton has won countless awards for his stories and was named the number 1 Western writer of all time by the Western Writers of America. His writing will live on in the hearts and minds of his many fans.
You can read his obituary and tributes from people who knew and loved him at Elmer Kelton.net.

Rest in peace.

Kudo for Adam’s Daughters
August 7, 2009
Adam’s Daughters will be available by the end of September. I’m working furiously to put the finishing touches on it.
Here’s a comment from one of my advance readers, Wanda Little:
Oh, David, you tell such a good story. This was great! I felt as I though I was there.
